LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) — A man was arrested on drug-related charges after calling 911 to report that he had used meth and wanted to be “checked out” by EMS, according to arrest documents.

Arturo Trevino, 37, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 2, for one count of possession or use of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony; and one count of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Cache County, Trevino called 911 and said “he took meth and wanted to be checked out by EMS.”

After arriving at his residence, first responders checked on Trevino and cleared him before officials learned he was on probation.

One officer asked Trevino about a “large round tube shaped item in [Trevino’s] sock,” and the suspect said it was a metal rod. Documents said he took it out of his sock for an officer to inspect the item, and there was a “green substance” inside the item that smelled like cannabis.

After probation officials arrived at the scene, officers entered the residence and found several drug-related items — including “a dollar bill with a crystalline substance,” along with “a burnt piece of tin foil,” and more burnt foil with “a large crystal inside” — on top of Trevino’s dresser.

According to the affidavit, a field test indicated that the substance officers found tested positive for methamphetamine. A urine test for Trevino revealed he tested positive for “meth, amphetamines, mdma, and alcohol,” the affidavit said.

Trevino was booked into the Cache County Jail on the aforementioned charges.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
