Washington Parish crash kills 3, injures 3 others

Washington Parish crash injures three, kills three others including two children

The Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened Sunday in Washington Parish. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 25 near Stafford Road. Tequilla Santee, 42, Daniya Carter, 11, and Dylan Wilson, 3, of Covington were killed in the crash. According to State Police, Santee was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe south on the highway when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Logan Schmalz, 18, of Franklinton, was driving north. Schmalz crossed the centerline of the road and struck Santee head on, according to troopers. Santee was wearing a seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene. Carter and Wilson, both passengers in the Tahoe, were not wearing seatbelts and were pronounced dead on the scene. Two more passengers in the Tahoe were critically injured and transported to an area hospital, one who was wearing a seatbelt and the other who wasn’t, according to troopers. Schmalz was wearing a seatbelt and is considered to be critical.
