Weather Impact day Wednesday, storms later this week
MANY YEARS AGO, THE GREAT BROADCASTER HOWARD COSELL USED TO HOST A SHOW. IT WAS CALLED SPORTS BEAT, ONLY HE DIDN’T CALL IT THAT. HE CALLED IT SPORTS BEAT. AND TONIGHT WE ARE ON THE FOG BEAT, USING OUR LIVE CAMERAS TO SHOW YOU WHAT’S GOING ON. FOG WISE, THE GOOD NEWS IS THERE’S NO FOG OUT THERE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT. IT LOOKS A LITTLE HAZY THERE ON THE LIVE CAMERA. WE’RE LOOKING TOWARD THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS. CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. HERE’S THE CAUSEWAY CAMERA. THIS IS A GOOD ONE FOR US TO USE, ESPECIALLY FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. IF IT’S FOGGY, WE CAN SHOW YOU THAT FOG. NO FOG OUT THERE YET. AND HERE’S A LIVE LOOK AT THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS. GETTING THAT FOG IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE A PROBLEM FOR US. ABOUT FOUR, FIVE, 6 A.M. RIGHT NOW WE ARE KIND OF CLOUDY AND WE’LL STAY SOMEWHAT CLOUDY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. BUT LET’S GO AHEAD AND SHOW YOU WHAT WE EXPECT TO HAVE HAPPEN BETWEEN ABOUT FOUR, FIVE, SIX IN THE MORNING. IT WILL BE PATCHY FOG. IT WON’T BE BLANKETING ALL OF US, BUT IN SOME LOCATIONS, VISIBILITY LESS THAN A MILE BETWEEN ABOUT SIX, SEVEN AND 8 A.M. HOWEVER, ONCE WE GET PAST ABOUT 9:00, I THINK THAT FOG IS GOING TO BE DONE. OUR CURRENT CONDITIONS RIGHT NOW, LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SHOW THE TEMPERATURE IN DEW POINT NEARLY EQUAL, AND THERE ARE THE WINDS, RELATIVELY CALM, HUMIDITY CLOSE TO 100%. SO TOMORROW MORNING, YES, IT WILL BE FOGGY. HERE’S SOME OF THE CLOUDS THAT ARE IN PLACE. THEY’LL STAY IN PLACE FOR US FOR A GOOD MAJORITY OF THE DAY TOMORROW. FRONT TO THE SOUTH OF US. HIGH PRESSURE CLOSE BY. THERE ISN’T A LOT OF COLD AIR OUT THERE FOR US TO TAP INTO, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE A COLD FRONT THAT’S IN THE FORECAST. THAT COLD FRONT’S GOING TO BE HERE SOMETIME LATE ON FRIDAY. AHEAD OF THAT FRONT, THINGS ARE GOING TO BE ON THE WARM SIDE AS WE LOOK TOWARD TOMORROW MORNING. WE’RE GOING TO START RIGHT AROUND 50 DEGREES. SKIES WILL BE MOSTLY CLOUDY. YES, IT WILL BE FOGGY IN THE AFTERNOON, CLOSE TO 70 IN MOST SPOTS. WE COULD HAVE 1 OR 2 SPOTTY SHOWERS, BUT THE BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN DEFINITELY COMING ON FRIDAY. THURSDAY MORNING TEMPERATURES STARTING CLOSE TO 60 DEGREES. A FEW MORE SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON, BUT A SOUTHERLY WIND BRINGS US HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S THURSDAY. HERE COMES THE COLD FRONT. STOPPING THINGS HERE RIGHT ABOUT MIDNIGHT. GOING FROM THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. I THINK THIS IS OUR BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN AS WE LOOK TOWARD FRIDAY MORNING BETWEEN ABOUT FOUR 5:06 A.M., SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH. CHANCE THAT 1 OR 2 OF THE STORMS COULD BE ON THE STRONG SIDE, MAINLY FOR THE NORTH SHORE. BUT THEN THIS FRONT COMES THROUGH AND IT MAKES FOR A VERY NICE WEEKEND. SURE, IT GETS A LITTLE BIT COOLER, BUT NOT DRAMATICALLY COOLER. MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES IN THE FORECAST. OVERNIGHT. FOG DEVELOPING TOWARD MORNING. WE’LL START CLOSE TO 50 ON THE NORTH SHORE. WEATHER IMPACT DAY TOMORROW BECAUSE OF THAT FOG IN THE MORNING. AFTER THAT, MOSTLY CLOUDY 20% CHANCE FOR AN ISOLATED SHOWER. MID 70S FOR YOUR HIGH TEMPERATURE ON THURSDAY. WE MAY HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF FOG THERE THURSDAY MORNING. GOING TO HAVE THAT FOG AND THE WIND STARTS TO PICK UP A LITTLE BIT. BUT FRIDAY IN THE MORNING IS WHEN WE’RE GOING TO HAVE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. IT COULD BE ON THE STRONG SIDE, A COUPLE OF THEM AND THEN SUNSHINE RETURNS FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES BACK INTO THE 70S BY THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK. EVEN BY SUNDAY, WE’RE UP TO 72
Weather Impact day Wednesday, storms later this week
The clouds decreased for us this afternoon, and we saw a decent amount of sunshine, but now we’re concerned about fog first thing tomorrow morning. The fog will be locally thick in a few locations as winds will be light, and humidity will be close to 100%, but once the fog is gone, it should be comfortable with high temperatures getting up to 70 on Wednesday. A few isolated showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday, but the real rain comes overnight Thursday through Friday morning. A cold front will move through and trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms a couple of which could be on the strong side. The temperature will cool down by a few degrees, and the humidity goes down significantly, but high temperatures will still be in the 60s over the weekend, which should be mainly dry and filled with a good amount of sunshine.
