Valentine’s Day is nearly here, which means chocolate-covered everything, festive cocktails and other sweet treats are all most people can think about.
If you still need to find some gifts for that special someone or want to treat yourself this Feb. 14, we’ve got a few local picks with a romantic spin to share.
Chocolate-covered treats, Sweet Dreams Confections Co.
Sweet Dreams Confections Co. is a family-run confectionery in Middletown making hand-crafted sweets for all occasions. Some of their Valentine’s Day bestsellers include hand-dipped, chocolate-covered strawberries, which come in milk, white and dark chocolate. Another big seller is their handmade truffles that come in 37 flavors.
More goodies include chocolate-covered marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers … and bacon. We know there’s someone out there waiting to unwrap that on Valentine’s Day.
The menu also features the viral Dubai chocolate bars seen on social media in recent months and peanut butter cup pie.

Sundae for two, The Sugar Factory
Anything can be romantic if you cut down on the plateware and double the silverware, and that’s exactly what the Sugar Factory in Dover does with its selection of sundaes for two.
The old-fashioned sundaes range from classic Neapolitan to chocolate blackout to strawberry cheesecake overload.
If you’ve got several Valentines or Galentines (we don’t judge), check out the King Kond sundae, complete with 24 scoops of ice cream, various dessert sauces, sprinkles, cookie crumbles, candy necklaces, sparklers, marshmallows, a glazed donut, a red velvet cupcake and much more.
