A former assistant chief with the Cincinnati Police Department is set to become the next chief of police at Xavier University.The Xavier University Office of Risk Management announced Thursday that Aaron Jones will be its next chief of police.Jones received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Xavier and has served with the Cincinnati Police Department for several decades.During his time with CPD, Jones was an officer in Evanston, worked with the department’s Internal Investigation Service and held the titles of lieutenant, captain and colonel.In 2023, Jones was selected to be an assistant chief with the department. He also served as an adjunct professor in Xavier’s criminal justice department since 2018. Jones is expected to transition from CPD to Xavier within the next two months, the university said.
