ZANESVILLE − A local man is now facing numerous years in prison after a two-person burglary job occurred at a large retail store over the summer.
The 56-year-old Kenneth Mark Wilson from Zanesville was sentenced to a minimum of two years in prison on Dec. 27 upon his conviction of four total counts after burglarizing the Rural King on Maysville Pike in August. He was sentenced on one count of burglary, a second-degree felony, two counts of theft, both first-degree misdemeanors and one count of receiving stolen goods, also a first-degree misdemeanor.
Wilson’s aggregate prison term of two to three years came from the felony burglary count, but he will also have a 180-day term of local incarceration. He received three 180-day sentences for each misdemeanor charge that will all run concurrently. He is also facing at least 1.5 years of post-release control after his sentence and up to $18,000 in fines.
Wilson has been held in the Muskingum County Jail since his booking on Aug. 15 on a $150,000 bond. He was represented by Attorney Chris Brigdon out of Columbus and was granted credit for 135 days served by Court of Common Pleas Judge Kelly Cottrill.

Part of Wilson’s burglary conviction included a specification, and he is now subject to the forfeiture of his Hyundai Elantra, which was used as the getaway vehicle. There was also originally a second, repeat offender specification on the same charge, but it was removed during a plea agreement on Oct. 28.
Wilson has a track record of at least one other incident that resulted in burglary and complicity to theft felony convictions in 2011.
A second Zanesville man, co-defendant Gregory Glenn Buchanan, 60, was also indicted and sentenced on the same four counts, when he received three years in prison on Oct. 28.
Buchanan was noted as the driver, while Wilson was the owner or possessor of the car, according to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Michael Hughes. The men reportedly stole miscellaneous retail items and clothing, noted the indictment.
