Man arrested, faces aggravated battery charge in Christopher | Crime and Courts

Man arrested, faces aggravated battery charge in Christopher | Crime and Courts

CHRISTOPHER, Ill. (WSIL) — A man faces an aggravated battery charge after police said he struck another person on Monday.

The Christopher Police Department said their officers responded to Stoecker’s Saddle Shop for a report of a battery incident on February 3.

Once officers got there, they said they saw a victim with a cut to his eye and other injuries to his face.

Police said the victim told them the suspect climbed on a horse statue at the business and told him to get down. A verbal fight then took place and the suspect hit the victim, police added.

The suspect was identified as Darnell Woods, 35 of Chicago, Illinois.

Woods was arrested at the scene and police cited him with an aggravated battery charge.

The victim was taken to a local emergency room for treatment of the injuries.
